Cracked text

Thursday ~ April 04, 2007 by Pixelseed Posted in All free Photoshop tutorials

This tutorial aims to produce text that appears to be cracked. Through the creative use of dark and light tones you will be able to enhance the effect of realistic fissures.

Here’s what we’ll get at the end:

Fill your background layer with black and type in your text using a moderate to dark gray. We will be using a significantly lighter tone, white in fact, to really bring out those cracks later on.

Right-click the text layer and rasterize the image. You will now be free to edit the text as you wish.

Select the Lasso Tool and crop small segments from the letters, in effect creating cracks in the letters.
