Close the document and create another new document (any size will do) to test out your new scatter brush. Left-click and drag your brush across the canvas. You will notice that the brush’s uniform shape is pretty much reproduced at short intervals and while it does have its uses, the result isn’t all that fetching. This is where Photoshop really excels and allows you to set parameters suited to just about every need. Open up the Brushes Palette by pressing F5 or by clicking on the small icon on the top right-hand corner of the screen. You will notice a number of options that include, Shape Dynamics, Scattering, Texture, Color Dynamics etc. These may all be fine tuned to create a range of effects that can be used for layouts, ornamenting text, paintings and whatever else you can come up with. <<< Creating a scatter brush – Part 1
